The Journal of International Law and Jurisprudence (JILJ) is a double-blind peer-reviewed, open-access law journal published by the Department of International Law and Jurisprudence, Faculty of Law, University of Jos, Nigeria. It appears twice a year.
JILJ is the Department's forum for scholarship in its two fields. The first is international law in all its branches: the law of treaties and of international organisations, the use of force and the law of armed conflict, international criminal justice, human rights, and the international regulation of trade, energy, the environment and aviation. The second is jurisprudence: the theories, values and institutions that explain what law is and how it ought to work.
The journal is written from Nigeria and looks outward. It is particularly interested in work that measures Nigerian and African law against international standards, that draws lessons from other jurisdictions, or that brings legal theory to bear on a practical problem of justice and governance. Alongside these it publishes doctrinal studies of Nigerian law and practice that make an original contribution.
Contributions are welcome from law teachers, researchers, judges, legal practitioners and postgraduate students at any institution.
Every manuscript is reviewed double-blind by independent reviewers and assessed for originality, depth of legal analysis, soundness of method and compliance with the house style. JILJ follows the Nigerian Association of Law Teachers (NALT) Uniform Format and Citation Guide for Legal Research Writing in Nigeria.
Everything JILJ publishes on this site is free to read and download from the day it appears. There is no subscription and no paywall.
